Final Rugby Ball of the Season!

PRE-BALL at Cara's house, had a nice glass of champaigne before heading over to the Movenpick hotel for once last Rugby Ball of the season.  We had a great night eating a nice dinner and then dancing the night away.
Although luckily responsible Cara had us call it a night around 1 am since we had MESAC in the morning. Good times and already looking forward to next season with the Hurricane ladies!!!

Habitat for Humanity

A week in Malaysia with 12 High School students and Reina was nothing short of a great spring break vacation, all while building a house for Habitat for Humanity outside of Kuala Lumpur. Our first day there we were able to tour the Patronas Towers and Batu Caves where I was attacked by a monkey... that almost ripped off my dress as I walked the temple steps.

Waking up early all week, attempting to get h.s. students into a van every morning to drive to the build site, was nothing short of a miracle each and every time. We'd spend the morning moving bricks and mixing cement followed by an afternoon of laying bricks and putting up 3 sturdy walls and adding in a couple windows and doors.  We were able to finish the build a little early and went to a local elementary school to help paint: a fence, letters, numbers, a hop scotch board, and bunch of other things to help with.  The last day of our trip we took the kids to a paintball corse... little did a know being the teacher ensured the target was always on my back. In the end we had a great time seeing how much was accomplished at the end of the week, and how family the family of 7 was in their new home.

FINAL Rugby Tournament!!!

Canes and Clones #1

Starting the season off on the Hurricanes A squad- playing with the Cyclones B squad- when we had lots of players, and then finishing the season playing on BOTH! It was a great way to be apart of it all and get ten awesome games of Rugby 7's in this past weekend!

I was also moved from my traditional WING spot, to being the "ten" man.... aka the first person in the black line (rather than the last) to get the ball and move the ball out. I was extremely nervous for my new position, especially since we were going into the last game of the season, but after a week of practice I was starting to feel a little more confident about the change up.

My awesome Cyclones team finished FIRST in the B division- playing with most teams seconds teams, though winning the division had us play the last place team in the A division- Abu Dhabi. It was a close game, but in the end we were a tri or two short to win the BOWL.

On the plus side my Hurricanes team WON First place in the A division- winning the overall trophy for the league, it was a great time and I was so glad to be a part of it.  The night ended in a massive celebration and a good time was to be had by all.  Playing for the Hurricanes Women's Rugby Club has been the best experience by far since moving to Dubai. I couldn’t have asked for better teammates and a close group of girls that have become my great friends.
